Interstitial lung disease (ILD)

Interstitial lung disease is fibrosis of delicate mesh of supporting fiber tissue surrounding air sacs. These air sacs absorb oxygen inside blood vessels from the air we breathe. Because of minimal to no symptoms in the initial stages, diagnosis may get delayed by several months. In most patients it is a progressive disease with increase in symptoms. Few anti-fibrotic medicines are available for the treatment of this disease which reduce the rate of decline of lung function.
